Why Financial Literacy?
According to a study done by Hartford Financial Services Group, 76% of those who graduate college feel ill-equipped to handle their financial challenges due to a lack of financial education. We see this as an opportunity to help! Listerhill Credit Union was founded with a goal of teaching members in the community how to make wiser decisions with their money. We wish to extend this goal into your classroom. Our financial literacy course gives students a valuable knowledge base that will help them make wiser financial decisions for a lifetime.
Zach Rose, Director of Financial Literacy
Meet Zach Rose, our new Director of Financial Wellness at UNA. He is a UNA alumnus himself who graduated in 2012. Zach has worked at Listerhill for 4 years but has always known he wanted to work directly with the UNA community. His greatest goal is to educate students and young people about their finances and to be an approachable resource for those who have questions about the financial industry and wise money management. Zach is passionate about financial preparedness and the success of UNA students. He also enjoys extensive traveling, spending time with his family including his lovable dog Jack, and anything Harry Potter related. Stop by his office anytime to learn more about wise money management practices or just to say hi!
Listerhill's Financial Literacy 101 Course
Personal finances aren’t always easy to understand. That is why we have made our Financial Literacy 101 Course. The goal of this course is to provide students with a framework to help them make good financial decisions right now and in the future. By the end of the course students will understand the importance of creating a budget, how to differentiate between many different types of loans, what makes up a credit score and much much more.
