Scholarships

We promote higher education in the community by funding foundation scholarships and additional scholarships through local colleges.

The Listerhill Foundation Scholarship

The Listerhill Credit Union Foundation Scholarship was created to provide financial support for Listerhill members who are pursuing higher education. Members in financial need who achieve academic excellence and contribute to the community in which they live will be considered. Our scholarships recognize students who understand the value of education and hard work, and exemplify a passion for helping others.

In order to receive consideration, students must have graduated from high school in one of the following counties: Colbert, Cullman, Fayette, Franklin, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Marion, Morgan, Walker or Winston.

The award may be used to fund any accredited post-secondary education (college, vocational, public and private).

Award recipients must be able to provide verification of acceptance and/or enrollment in college.

Award recipients must be a member of Listerhill Credit Union.

Award will be based on:

• Demonstration of Financial Need
• Community and/or School Service
• Leadership Potential
• Academic Achievement

Deadline for scholarship is March 30

Selection will be made without regard to the applicant’s race, color, ethnic origin, religious belief, sex, marital status, or physical handicap. Selection is, however, limited to members of Listerhill Credit Union.

Scholarship Criteria

Endowment Scholarships

Listerhill Credit Union funds multiple scholarships at post-secondary institutions. Scholarship applications may be obtained at each respective institution’s Financial Aid Office.

University of North Alabama

• Albert E. Williams Scholarship - Open to all students who have demonstrated potential for success through grades and college entrance examination scores. Preference to Business Majors.
• Listerhill Employees Credit Union/UNA Alumni - Open to all students who have demonstrated potential for success through grades and college entrance examination scores. Preference to children of employees or children of members of Listerhill Employees Credit Union. This scholarship is for one year only, but prior recipients may reapply.

Northwest Shoals Community College

• Joseph Wade Endowment Scholarship - Open to all students; Preference given to applicants who are Members of Listerhill Credit Union. Priority given to students pursuing a 2-year technical degree. Recipient must be a full-time student and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA.  Recipient may be awarded based on enrollment status.  Each scholarship is for one academic year, but prior recipients may reapply for subsequent years.  Must demonstrate financial need.  Selected by the scholarship committee.
